In my last post, I talked about the need for good, attractive content on your website in your quest for effective small business marketing. That’s certainly one part of the plan, but if you’re looking for ways to supercharge your small business marketing strategy, consider how your current website appears on a mobile device.
Small business marketing plan should include mobile devices
The mobile device revolution is well underway in North America, and if you’re doing business online, you should take a look at your website on a mobile device. Don’t assume that what you see on your desktop at work is what you’ll get on your iPhone!
Mobile devices have strengths and weaknesses, just like any other platform, but consumers are showing an overwhelming preference for mobile devices. By 2017, more than 2/3 of US consumers are expected to access the Internet primarily using a mobile device. About half of all consumers have mobile devices right now and the number of new mobile devices entering the market is growing by the millions each quarter. This alone should be reason enough to rethink your small business marketing strategy to include mobile devices.
For small business marketing purposes, there’s no time like the present to make your website design mobile-friendly. Consumers want to access businesses, shop and make contact using a mobile device. If your business website allows that, you’re much more likely to gain and retain customers. On the other hand, your customers are more likely to look elsewhere for products and services if they hit a brick wall when they access your website on their mobile devices.
Good website designs will enable you to provide one view of your website to desktop users and another view of your website to users who are coming to you via a mobile device. In other words, good website design and a little bit of forethought can facilitate consumer interaction, regardless of how the consumer arrives at your site.
